Snow day 2014

Hey y'all,
I hope everyone is warm and cozy today.
We got a foot of snow here in Franklin that is not usual at all for us.
A few inches and melts the next day if we see snow at all in winter.
All my Yankee and Mid west friends will laugh when I tell you, the Governor declared a state of emergency. HA! The area is covered with between 6 to 13 inches and we are shut down around here!
Personally I love it.
Did I ever show y'all my new ink?
I do not think I did.

Here are my snowflakes...
I had them done as a memorial for my grandfathers(the blue one)
my grandmothers(the purple)
and my sister is in pink.

My front yard

The backyard and my car.

The front yard to the street.
No one had been down the street this morning, and we are a main road to town.
So we are  staying in and unpacking a few more boxes.
getting sorted and organized.
I think I am gonna roast a chicken for supper...mm mm
have a good day.

hmmmm....

Hey Yall!
IT IS SNoWING AGAIN here in the south east!
I LOVE IT!
So what does one do on a cold wintery night?

Make a gooey dessert of course!

This is the recipe I have in the book Red Velvet Cupcake

Murder byJoanne Fluke.

My character Nurse Jenny gives this recipe to Delores the
mother of the main character Hannah and I also help solve

 a murder

Yes I know I am a nerd but this still tickles me to no end!

It is actually according to my Memes cookbook my Great

Grandma Colvilles recipe for Easy Fruit Pie.

** I cut the recipe in half for just the two of us.

Start by setting the oven at 425 and melt 1/2 stick of butter
in a dish of your choice. The bigger the dish the thinner it will be and the faster it will cook. I use a 9 inch ceramic pie plate.

1 cup self rising flour (all purpose is fine, it just makes it more dense)
1 cup sugar
stir together with a wire whisk
add 1 cup milk (canned or from the jug either works)
1 tsp. vanilla
mix it all together while your butter is melting.
Once the butter is melted, take it out of the oven and
pour the batter over the melted butter.
Then take your choice of canned fruit, canned pie filling or frozen fruit that has been thawed what ever you like.
I used cherry pie filling.
Spoon your fruit over the batter. Do Not Stir. Just drop spoofulls over the batter.
Juice and all.
Bake 45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
Serve with Vanilla Ice Cream, whipped cream or plain, I am eating mine with snow cream tonight

Let me know if you try it!

...So this year...

Hey y'all.
How are you today?
I hope everyone is warm, cozy, and happy today.
I am not a new year resolution type of gal.
However there are things that I want to do or change.
One of them are friendships.
I want to be a better friend.
I want to be more kind to the friends I have and I want to stay in touch more.
So to kick off the year I just put a few letters in the mailbox.

I love writing letters. I wish there was a way to make a living doing it.
I get such a good feeling writing a few lines on paper and sending them along.
I hope to write a few every month.
Not a major change but one I want to make.
