I have a decent signal to get online and catch up with y'all!
FINALLY!
So let me catch ya up on my little corner of the world.
Last Saturday February 25 we celebrated my sister Laura, my friend Julie and my birthdays at a little tea room. It was lovely. I love "taking tea" don't you!

In the front are my Mom and Julie, the back Left to right is
Leigh, Shelby, Me, Joanne and Laura.
(Beth and Amanda were unable to attend)

She is so silly!

She was so excited to have a girls day

and be at a tea!

I think being just the girls is her favorite thing!

Later it was cake and ice cream for Laura and Me at mom and dad's.

TOO MANY CANDLES.....LOL!

I love having a day with my best friends.

Happy Pink Saturday!
How are y'all this lovely February day?
The weather is cool and crisp and the sun is shining and I have a HUGE pot of home made Vegetable Soup simmering on the stove; so not a bad day at all here in the Old Dominion.
I love the month of February. I always have, for several reasons.
Valentines day (the perfect day for one like me who loves all things with hearts on them) my sister Laura's birthday, my dear friend Nathan's birthday, my friend Julia's birthday, my niece April's birthday, and my birthday. PHEW it's a busy month, but I love it! The weather is usually cold (just how I like it) and I have lots going on. FUN TIMES!
For my pinks today I wanted to share with y'all some delicious die-cuts (sadly now discontinued)
I got from Jenny & Aaron last year.
I LOVE THEIR ART! I am a huge fan of theirs.

OK so many of you know I love all things cupcake, so when I saw their cupcake die cut I wanted it so bad, however I had to save my pennies for it.

Then I saw a plate of doughnuts that looked good enough to eat!

Yummy!

This is the perfect cake!

Parfait!

Parfait anyone?

When was the last time you had a parfait?

I made this easy peasy dessert and as I was about to put it together I realised I was out of pastry bags AND Ziploc bags so I just had to spoon in the chocolate mousse layer, so it doesn't look as pretty as I 'd like BUT it is so yummy :) and that is really all that matters!

The best part...it's sugar free so it's a sweet treat for my sweetheart.

We love black cherry jello and the sugar free is pretty good, but BORING, so I was trying to think of a way to male it special.

and this is what I came up with.

For the Chocolate Mousse

1 box sugar free instant chocolate pudding

1 container sugar/fat free whipped topping

1/2 c. milk

Mix it all together until the pudding is well combined into the topping

it will be thick and creamy.

2 boxes sugar free jello I used Black Cherry, but you can use what you like.

Follow instructions on box, make and chill until it's firm and you are ready to assemble.

Find a pretty glass or bowl or those parfait glasses you have hiding in a cabinet.

Layer in how you like.

I did jello, pudding, jello and whipped cream on top.

You can jazz it up how ever you like, this works for us and made Lee happy.

He could care less that I didn't have the mousse layer piped in and the jello layers aren't as level as I wanted them, he is just happy I made him a treat.

Do your fellas feel the same way?

So how about a parfait for your someone special, they are fun and yummy.

**One note on the pudding, I have made my mock "mousse" with store brand and name brand pudding, The "Jell-O" brand dissolves best. The store brands I have used stay grainy and don't dissolve as well and leave a "waxy" feel behind.**

Inside the box marked fragile was a gift sent by my Secret Sister

Let me tell you she knows me well.
I love the red velvet bow and the simple, yet elegant way my gift was wrapped. I love brown paper packages :)

She sent me this beautiful magnet

I love the Psalms, and I love the beach; the photo on the magnet is perfect.

and wrapped in the paper was this beautiful cross box

I was so touched when I saw it.

I think I am going to use it as a prayer box, I am going

to write prayers on slips of paper and tuck them inside, then pray over them daily.

She is a lovely woman of Faith and our friendship is growing every week.

Jenn and I both start at the bottom of the page and work up to the top of all the PS participants, she views every third link, I just go with what catches my eye that day, and some days I view all of them.

January Tag

Hey Y'all how are ya today?
It is cold and windy here in Virginia today.
I wanted to share the tag I made for Tee's Tag A Month Swap.

My partner for the January swap is the lovely Elysia in Canada. I hope she likes it. I think it is a bit too simple, but the more I fiddled with it the less I liked it, so I went clean and simple. I still don't think I am happy with it but I hope Elysia is. You can't really tell in the photo, bit I popped up the embellishments with pop dots for some dimension and of course had to glitter it up with stickles and I used my FAVORITE paper line October Afternoon for the front and back (which I forgot to take a photo of) and all the embellishments.
I can't wait for the next one!

Lazy Day

It has been a week!
I have not been feeling well over the past week so for me it has been work, bed, work, bed...poor Lee hasn't had a decent meal in 6 days!
I am much better now.
I feel like I have missed so much over the past week, in some ways it was good to be offline and in others it stinks, I get so much encouragement from my bloggy pals :)

Yesterday we had a couch potato day, we watched 3 movies and went to bed!
We finally got around to seeing the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie..eh it was ok...I think they need to just stop with those...eh

Next up was Crazy, Stupid Love

but oh that Ryan Gosling...

we both liked it, we love superhero movies, we both agree on most of them and we enjoy them so out of the 3 that was our favorite.
Lee just watched the newest Planet of the Apes ...he liked it, I have ZERO interest in those movies, he can have them. He loves the old ones and liked this one too.
I still have one more to watch today...Water For Elephants.

The book was good, so I am looking forward to watching it.
On a side note I love Elephants, I could watch them all day, I have no idea why, maybe it's their eyes, but I feel so peaceful watching them, in a zoo, on t.v. etc... I just love them.

My Blog is 1 today!

1 year ago today, I decided to take a leap of faith and start a blog.
I kind of wanted to do it, if for no other reason than to participate in swaps and pink saturday, but was that enough of a reason to commit to a blog?
I agonized over it for weeks, would any one read it, what on earth would I write about, what should I call it, should I have a theme etc.... Finally I just decided to do it and it didn't matter if anyone read or commented, I was doing this for me! I still feel that way a little bit, but I am so thrilled that you do read, and you do comment, and you like me ...you really like me....teehee.
It has been a year full of learning,
learning I am NOT a photographer so bad photos will be what is here...LOL
learning it is ok that no one comments
learning to not be offended at some comments that are left
learning there are a TON of wonderful women in blog land, that I now can count as friends and sisters
learning that God is alive in the hearts of so many
learning that my Faith is my strength
learning it is ok to be sad and ask for help
learning that to get love you need to give love
learning that the talent and creativity in our little world is AMAZING!
learning I love Pink Saturday and all the ladies there so much!
learning to be a better me.

So many lessons learned; I wonder what this year will hold?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
phew last week was busy, but I am a little sad to see it go. I love the Christmas season.
I can't get my photos to load today so maybe later in the week I'll have a few to share.
So what are your plans for 2012?
Do you make resolutions?
I don't.
I do try to make things a little better every year.
This year I want to increase my devotional and prayer time.
I think when you spend quality time with God, everything else falls in place.

On the creative front...
I am doing Tee's Tag of the Month for this year.
I have my Blogging Sister assigned, and I am excited to have her to make a few goodies for her and pray for her this year.
I have great friends with whom I will exchange letters and maybe a bit more...
I hope to do some swaps and maybe a give away or 2 this year as well.

So this is how my year is starting out, I hope to visit y'all often. Thanks for stopping in and have a great 2012.

Happy Pink Saturday!
The presents are wrapped, the tree is lit

The turkey is cooking (that is an adventure all it's own)

I want to share with y'all the most precious gift I own.

In 2002 my dad found a relationship with God, he never knew he could have.

He found that relationship by spending time with Him, while building

5 houses.

One for each of us.

They are 100% hand made,

right down to the hand cut shingles on the roof.

Personalized to fit us with our favorite colors and other little touches.

Mine is Red. Always my favorite color.

The living room.(Can you see little me in the fireplace?)

The bedroom with a little me tucked into bed.

And little Duncan keeping watch.

All lit up, it looks very cozy doesn't it.

The Christmas tree all lit up.

Someone asked me once what I would take from home if I had to leave fast.

This house and my photos.

It is my most cherished possession.

This little Christmas house is filled to the brim with love.

Even matching curtains in the windows.

He made the doors from a photo he took of the doors at St.Paul's Cathedral in Downtown Norfolk, he sized the photos to fit the houses.

There is so much more to this story, but it is so personal, I can't really put it into words. Well I could, but I think I will keep it just for me...maybe next year.

My daddy made something so beautiful for us. He poured his heart and soul into wood, plaster and paint. He loves us so much and we adore him.

I can hardly type for crying right now , when I think of how much my dad loves us, it overwhelms me.

Night before last was lovely. It was a night filled with friends and family...so do you think I took a load of pictures?
ONE.... I took 1 and it is not a good photo either...lol

I also wanted to share with you a gift I got from Angela

at Down To The Darling Details

We both love gingerbread men/women and vintage so she made me the darling Tag and Ornament that are just perfect.

She sent some candies from a sweet shop she likes, made me the sweetest Christmas card and enclosed this little Ornament book, to record your yearly traditions. I love that idea!

Angela and I "met" earlier this year when we did Sandy's (521 Lake Street)Easter Tag Swap.

We hit it off right away and are becoming the greatest of friends.

We are so blessed that Sandy matched us up.

I love Angela's faith and her spirit.

Her letters always make me smile.

So are you ready for Santa? I am almost ready, I still have 1 more gift to get for my secret Santa, 1 for a friend and ...the dreaded...stocking stuffer's...lol!
I tell ya, I don't know what it is this year with the stockings, usually I have a plan this year...NADA! Oh well something will come up!

Tonight we are going to Beth and Steve's for dinner, and to celebrate Christmas with my cousin Leigh and her husband James. For dinner it's homemade chow mien and egg rolls! YUM! When we were kids we could not afford to eat out too often so my mom made everything! Her chow mien is so good and none of us like it any way but hers.

Keep my Leigh in your prayers she is having surgery on the 23rd, that is why we are celebrating with her tonight.

I am sure I will be back with photos tomorrow :)

MistyI haven't received Misty's yet, but she makes the CUTEST clay characters! They are so sweet and I can't wait to see what she sends.

And I made 3 different ornaments, a shadow box, a felt marshmallow (toasted), and a snow man. 2 ladies got the styrofoam snowman ornies and 1 got a glass one I painted and forgot to take a photo of.

Merry Christmas!
I say that every chance I get! It makes me sad that a lot of people don't anymore.
Today I thought I would share a few more of my Christmas decorations.
We have a small house, so I don't so as much as I have in the past, but it is cozy and homey and I love every bit.

I got the snowman garland from a little shop in Pennsylvania years ago,I love it, it is one of my favorite things.

My sister Beth made the wreath for me several years ago. I adore it, it took her so long to make. It is precious to me.

confession: I love changing the numbers every morning...

there are 2 of these, one I bought at hallmark and the other my mom made. I mixed up the gloves just to keep it fun. On this one my mom made the red with white ric rac and the blue with red trim.

and on this one my mom made the pink (you can't see it here but they have glittery snowflakes on them) and white with red flower.

So these are a few more bits I love. They make me feel good and happy.

I am OVERWHELMED with too much information!
I would like to find a unique/special/new to us foodie gift for our Christmas stockings.

(These are not all of the stockings, 6 of them were taken down while the fire was lit.)

We do a name exchange and only but a gift for 1 adult and we buy for all the kids, but we still fill each others stockings and I like to do something yummy and different each year.

One year was cocoa's, another was nuts, another was soup mixes.

you get the idea.

This year I want something special.

HOWEVER in my Internet searches I have found too much.

I can't decide. I can't even narrow it down. SHEESH.

So what do you suggest?

Thank You Beverly for hosting us again this week, please visit her and all the other pink ladies for loads of fun.

Today I thought I would share a small and drastically un adorned Coca-Cola Town Square Christmas Village.
I USUALLY have little lighted lamp posts, mirrors for ponds, snow and roads, ceramic people, cars and trucks,snow banks..... Well the electric does not work on the wall they are on so they can't be lit nor can the lamp posts etc...so I decided to go bare bones simple, I have a vintage table cloth that I KNOW does not look like the ground, but I like it and I adore all the little businesses :)

I would love to have the church that goes in the town square village, but I missed it years ago. One day maybe.
My favorite one is the first one I got. Jenny's Sweet Shop! That is really the name, I did not paint it on!
Lee gave it to me for Christmas in 1997 or 1998, and that started this little collection.

Blessed Again

Well, I thought I was done with blessing posts after November, boy howdy did God have other plans.
My husband is a Mason, at Masonic Lodge #30 in Suffolk, Virginia

Last night the Worshipful Master (the head guy) at his Lodge, came to the house to visit with Lee. He is also a friend of ours and we have known him and his wife for many years. * on a side note they had a baby boy 2 weeks ago :) we love them all!
Any how...
The lodge "passed the hat" and blessed us with a monetary gift, which is a great blessing to us and will help us in so many ways!
We will be able to pay a couple of bills and put food in the house.
We were really trying to figure out how to make what we have work until payday and after payday to be honest.
We are so thankful to them and to God... who had a plan all along.

I can't believe this month is almost gone! I have only one more day of blessings to post, when I started this I was just hoping I would remember to post everyday :) Well I have missed a few, but posted 2 the next day to keep on track.um mm yeah like today :)
Everyday I have asked God to reveal to me what my blessing for today is and everyday this month He has led me to something or someone to be blessed by.

I was prompted by God to do this, the 1st day of November I was sitting here trying to decide what to post and I asked God for wisdom. Blessings and gratitude are what He wanted me to post, so I did. It has been good for me.
It has been calming and has revealed much to me this month. We often have the tendency to become downtrodden in our struggles and trials, but there are great blessings in those too as I hope I have revealed and learned this month.
My blessing today as I reflect upon this last month is that I am happier than I was a month ago. I have joy for the first time in a long time.
Thank You Lord for showing me by sharing your blessings.

Today dear ones, I am blessed to have so many people to pray for!

I was in my kitchen getting some popcorn out of the cabinet to make me a bowl, on the cabinet that holds the kernels of corn 2 red ribbons are tied to the handle, the ribbons are off a bag of popcorn Marcia sent to me with the gift card she sent when I was the winner of her White Christmas in July party. When I took the ribbons off the bag I tied them on the cabinet handle to remind me of Marcia. ..and it's cute and they match my kitchen :) Often when I touch them I say a prayer for her. I do that with all sorts of things I have been given, when I scrap with paper Aymee sent me I say a prayer for her, when I pull out an embellishment form an envelope or matchbox swap I think of Donna or Kim and say a prayer, when I see my little pompom chicks or my fall pixie, I pray for Elizabeth, when I see the rabbit on my desk I thank God for Angela, whenever I see the color Tiffany Blue Trisha is who I think of and pray for, when I use my border punch I think I Christine, when I reach in my ribbon box that was made by Peg, I talk to God about her, when I use the ribbon inside Karen and Caitlin jump to mind, Casey is all around me in the books and bits she has sent my way so always prayers for her.
I could fill pages with all the people I pray for, do I pray every day for every one? No, sadly I do not, but I do pray for someone everyday.

Today my friends, I have been blessed with the gift of time.
I had time today to have breakfast with Lee, to take a nap and read a book, watch a football game, cook and enjoy supper with Lee, blog here and visit many others.
A simple day. Filled with simple pleasures. Which I am blessed to enjoy and take comfort in.
Thank You Lord for this day, I am blessed yet again by your grace.

My mom made our stockings, mine was made so long ago I was just a kid,at least 25 years ago if not longer. Lee's was made 15 years ago in "Cowboys" colors...I know sheesh, but that is what he wanted and that is what she made.

We don't have a fireplace and the shelf we used to use broke, so we are using command strips on the grandfather clock. It works for us :)

Hey Y'all Happy Pink Saturday to ya.

I crashed yesterday! I never even got online, I came home from working "BLACK FRIDAY" and went right to bed. I slept 12 solid hours! Well I had been up for almost 48 hours so I am not surprised.

SO my blessing for yesterday was that I was blessed to have a decent day at work.
Black Friday is a rough day for everyone who works retail!
I was running a register most of my shift and helping customers and my co-workers, I got cussed at only twice and only had about 15 people with really bad attitudes. Not too bad for the busiest shopping day of the year.
So I was blessed, it was not too bad on me and at 8am when I got off I went to breakfast with my friend Julie and we had a nice relaxing time.

For my blessing today I have to share with you the women in my life. My sisters. I am blessed to be the oldest of our clan. I am the big sister to 4 sisters and 2 sisters in love.

Beth is next in line, she is wonderful, her heart is so big and if you ever need anything organized she is your girl! She is a great cook, like me loves to travel, works hard and loves Snow babies :)

The next one born was Christy, she passed away at 1 day old.

She has been an Angel since 1976

She is forever in our hearts.

Next is Joanne. She is the mother to Colby and Shelby. This woman is a wonderful mama! She is so creative and can decorate a cake like a professional! She is so kind and always there in a flash if anyone needs anything.She has a quick wit and always makes us laugh.

Last born is Laura. She was born with clear blue eyes and white blond hair. She is beautiful inside and out. She is also very clever and creative.

She loves to travel and ride roller coasters. She is easily the most crafty of all of us and has a wonderful sense of humor and smile.

Then we have my sister in love Amanda.

She is the mother of Layden. She met my brother at the gym and we are all so glad she did. He loves her so much and so do we.

Her laugh makes you smile, she loves the Twilight movies and books so we share that passion :)

I used to worry I would not get to know her very well since she is 16 younger than I; but know her and love her I do! Another creative sista!

How much I miss her!

These ladies are my blessing everyday! I know how much they care for me and how much I love them.

They are talented, creative, funny, lovely, loving, and fun.

I am Blessed to have had the last 2 days off, the next 2 are gonna be a killer!
I was blessed with the time to enjoy myself at home and get a few errands done today here in town.
I took some of the time I was off to put up my Christmas Tree :)
DON"T GROAN!
I work retail and I am working all weekend, so this way I get to enjoy it.

Here is a peek.

The last two years we did not really celebrate Christmas, it has been too depressing. This year I want to, Lee really doesn't but I hope he changes his mind. When I stopped working on the tree this morning, I prayed and I felt so good. I hope Jesus likes my display of Celebration for his Birthday.

I am not done with it, but had other things to get done so I stopped for today.

I cannot imagine I will have time to be online tomorrow, so I am gonna set up an automatic post. PRAY FOR ME Y"ALL :) I work 11pm to 7 am tonight into tomorrow then I have to rush home, finish the food, go to my parents house and hour away, eat, do the secret Santa names, do Colby's Christmas list and be back at work by 9:30 tomorrow night until 8 Friday morning oh and I need to sleep in there somewhere, so pray God will sustain me through the festivities and Black Friday.
Thank You Father for blessing me with gifts; the tree was a gift from Laura and many of the ornaments were gifts from family and friends.The greatest gift was the birth of your Son, thank you most of all for Him.

Today is a cool rainy day here in Virginia, how is your day shaping up?
My blessing for today is one of humility. It's a bit of a story so be ready to read :)
It started with Pie.

Disclaimer...teehee this photo of Amanda at Thanksgiving last year has nothing to do with my story today, I just think it's funny, she was 8 months pregnant and the only one cutting pie :)

That is her mom Jamie leaning to the right.

Even more funny or sad depending on how you look at it, is that there were 6 more pies on the counter!

OK here is my blessing .

I have on occasion gone to a church in my neighborhood.

Rock Church of Franklin, Virginia.

The atmosphere, worship and pastors are great.

The last time I went the greeter asked me to fill out a visitor card and I did.

During the announcements the pastor reminded everyone of their Say Hi with a Pie event, they take a pie to a person in our city, just say hi and visit a minute.

Well sad as I am I was hoping and praying we would be a home they would visit. Not for the pie I am not that shallow, but for the comfort or fellowship or I don't know a bunch of reasons, I just really wanted to be a home they would visit.

I was praying for it all Sunday morning.

Well they did not visit our home and I was a bit bummed over it.

But as I was watching the football game I told God I was sorry, sorry for feeling jealous over a home they did visit and sorry for being selfish, I have Him to sustain me and He is all I need.

I went to bed and went to work later that night.

I was working in the frozen foods section stocking ice cream, listening to Christmas music, thinking and talking to God.

Ken who is a guy who used to work with me and is a member of Rock Church well he came over to where I was, we chat every time he stops in for a minute or 2 we were talking about ice cream and how good Blue Bunny ice cream is and how glad I am they make a variety of flavors with Splenda so Lee and I can have some and it's good :) and I always ask after his wife, she is in such poor health, her name is Monica, add her to your prayer list for health and healing, she is very bad off physically.

Recently diagnosed with MS and had a litany of other illness.

ANYHOW

Ken says, you know the church does this visit and pie thing every once in a while **(I did not say a word about me wanting to be a home they chose)** and he tells me the Pastor and his wife stopped by their house that morning to check on them and leave a pie. He continues to tell me Monica has been unable to use the bathroom for days and they were having to use a catheter on her and she was miserable. Well they did not tell the Pastor anything about this issue.

He asked to pray for them before they left and while he was praying he says "Lord I feel like there is a specific breakthrough that is going to be needed for Monica, I ask that you take care of that this day"

They hugged and left.

About 15 minutes later she used the bathroom for the first time in days!

And has been going ever since.

Ken said to me "See God even helps someone as mean as me" (which he is NOT) and he said it has changed how he is feeling about everything.

Praise God for miracles.He healed the problem and released the bond it was having over her.

Thank You Lord.

Ken was so relieved that she was able to go, it was so much better for her than having to use a catheter.

So my lesson in all this is God had a plan and if my house had been one they decided to pay a visit to, maybe they would not have gone to Ken and Monica and Monica would not have been prayed for and healed.

In the grand scheme of things I guess that seems small but it was huge to them and humbling to me.

Thank You Father for humbling me before you...again.

I love You Lord.

So I am blessed by an act of kindness. She does not have to spend time making these and offering them for our use, but she does and that my friends is a blessing to me.

20 posts in a row, which is a lot for me, I am not an everyday poster, so this has been a new challenge for me. A good one though.
Today I have 2 blessings.
First I have a friend at work,

I love her a bunch.
She is a blessing to me and I am thankful to have her in my life.
She surprised me with a gift this morning. I have a really hard time with my hands in winter weather, they crack and split no matter how much lotion I use, she found a pair of Aloe infused gloves and gave them to me to try and help my poor hands. That was so kind and thoughtful of her.
Thanks Julia, I am putting them on before I go to bed.
Next,
I am so glad we have TV preachers and TBN.
Oh I know some of them are shall we say...extreme, but others...they are spot on, to me at least.
This morning I was not able to make it to church, so I had the TV on and I had my pick of messages to choose from, so thank you Lord for calling some of these men to your ministry and blessing them.
Because you have led them, I draw closer to you Lord.
I am blessed today!

Counting My Blessings Day 19

I count among my many blessings all of my brother-in-laws.
I have 5 all together.
3 are my sister's husband's and 2 are my husband's brother's.
They are all good men whom I love dearly. I could call any of them and they would be there for me in a minute.
Most all of them are Saved by God's grace and I take comfort in knowing we will spend eternity together.
The one's that aren't know all about Jesus, they have to come to him in their own time.
We pray for them, well I pray for all of them all the time, but extra prayers for them.

My blessing today and everyday are my parents.
They are 2 of the greatest people on earth.
They love us all so much, and they love each other.
They have been married 42 years, are Christians,have had 6 children, and a successful business,are the prayer team leaders of their church, had hard times, good times and everything in between.
They are great examples to us all and we all love them very much.
I could go on for days about them; so let me just say...
I am blessed CRAZY blessed to be their daughter.

God is so good to us, we are blessed beyond measure to be His children.
Jesus loves us all so much.
What happened today that is so special?

Some like it and some do not.
Well that is OK, because God loves us all the same.

Counting my blessings has been so good for me.
Thank You Lord for leading me everyday.

Today He has led me to Angela.
My sister-in-love. She is married to Curtis, Lee's brother.
The day I met her 4 years ago was the day we were leaving Arkansas (where they live) to go to Texas for Lee's Mother's burial. You could not have picked a harder time to meet. We clicked as soon as we met and have loved each other every minute since :)
Let me tell you, I am BLESSED beyond measure to have her in my life.

Her Faith amazes me. Her love is unconditional and her heart is as big as all outdoors.

She gave me another niece and nephew. .

In their family we have Blair, (Curtis' daughter)

Kameron,and Alana.(Angela's kiddos)

Kameron love that boy!

Alana she is beautiful inside and out.

Her kids are great and her daughter has her heart.

I love them all so much.

More than they know.

She loves her Lord, her family and birdhouses, Jeff Gordon and motorcycle rides with her husband.
I want to ask all who pray to include her healing in your prayers.
She was injured in a fall a few weeks before we met 4 years ago.
She lives in such debilitating and excruciating pain, there are no words to describe what she has lived with every day for years.
I pray daily for healing and full restoration of her body.
We are BLESSED to have these lovely people in our lives. I love them all.
Thank You Father for bringing us all together.
I wish we lived closer, I miss them all so much.

Today I am blessed by my little fur baby.

We can't have children, so we have Cody.

He is really Lee's dog, he adopted him from a shelter for my Christmas gift

6 years ago, Cody likes me, but he ADORES Lee.

He will sit on the couch and snuggle up to Lee and gaze up at him.

It is so silly.

My little pup in my Hosta bed. His hair IS out of his eyes now :)

He is terrified of plastic bags and cardboard boxes.

Why? We have no idea.

He loves to chase a ball inside, but will not chase a ball outside.

He likes pickles and cabbage.

He hates to be left alone.

We love him and we thank God he blessed us with the little guy.

He brings us joy everyday.

My favorite Blessings are my nephews and nieces.

This one here is my Squirt.

I held him when he was 30 minutes old and it was love at first sight.

He has held my heart ever since.

I called him little squirt that minute; he was "little squirt" until he told me he was not little anymore, he was about 5 when that happened, he is now 7.

So from then on it is just "squirt" :)

This is us last Thanksgiving making his Christmas List.

We do it together after dinner at "pie time".

He has such a heart for Jesus.

I pray he always will.

One night during his prayers he prayed that his cousin "baby nugget"

(other wise known as Layden)

"Would grow up to be a strong man of God."

That took my breath away.

I love you with all my heart Squirt,

may you always know that .

May you always walk with God.

I love you infinity + 1.

Today I am blessed to be able to spend it with you.
God has blessed us with another Pink Saturday with Beverly.
For my Pink today I made these little lollipops. I made them as part of my gift for a baby shower. Chrissy is the mama she is a lovely lady I work with.
I could not find any baby washcloths that were solid colors, the only ones my store had have polka dots and stripes, not nearly as cute, the last ones I did were blue and white very cute these not so much, but they still turned out ok.

What a blessing this little baby boy will be to his family, he has 2 sisters and a mama and daddy who are waiting for him. He is due to arrive at the beginning of January. I can't wait to meet him.

Today I am blessed to be the grand daughter of a WWII Veteran.

My grandaddy served in the Army in the Pacific Theater.
He was a medic and saw things I can not even imagine.

So today I am thankful for all Veterans,
My dad was drafted for Vietnam and served in the Army National Guard.
My Father In Law was career Army and served in the Korean War.
My husband served in the Navy and was on his ship in the Gulf during the Beirut conflict.
I am thankful they all fought for us and for the freedom of those who are oppressed in other countries.
I am blessed by these men in my life.
Thank You to all who serve and who have served our country.
You are a blessing to me.

I am blessed to have the ability to read.
I LOVE to read. My love of reading began when I was very young, my mom tells of me coming home from school in 1st grade and sitting her down to read to her. I remember when I was small (under 10) we ALWAYS had a bedtime yes even in summer WHEN IT IS STILL LIGHT OUTSIDE! Talk about torture! Well my mom and dad did have 5 kids and they needed a break at night :) at any rate, my mom told me I had to go to bed but I did not have to go to sleep, I could read until it got dark. What a world was opened to me then. I read Freckle Juice and The Hardy Boys, Fudge, The Wizard of Oz and The Secret Garden and my favorite was always Nancy Drew!
My love of reading continues today.
I just finished reading this book, oh my it was wonderful, I loved it!

Ronda Rich wrote a book that spoke right to my heart! I laughed I cried I learned a lot, and I related to this book a ton, it really is spot on about Southern women.
So I am thankful to God for my sight and the ability to read and I am blessed to have parents that instilled such a passion for reading in me from an early age.
They are both readers too.

Today I am blessed to have Leigh in my life. She is my best friend. She is also my cousin though we may as well be sisters. I got a card she sent me in the mail today. It was just what I needed. She is a wonderful woman with a kind heart and lovely laugh. We have known each other all her life. I miss her since we don't live as close as we once did.

Hey Y'all.
Today and I blessed to live in a country that gives me the right to vote!
I am thankful that I have the ability and privilege to vote in any election in my city and state.
I went today to the little box and cast my votes.
I know in this day and age a lot of people think that one vote won't matter.
I still think it does, so I cast mine every chance I get.
Thank You Lord for giving me parents who taught me the responsibility of being an informed and involved citizen.

I almost missed today.
I have worked 6 days in a row, I came in this morning and crashed!
I slept all day!
So today I am thankful for and blessed by rest.
God set aside one day a week for us to rest.
Our bodies need to be still from a week of work.

Today I am thankful for my husband.
Lee is a good man and I love him so much.
The other day we were talking about how we met. We both remember the day exactly. 16 years together 15 years married.

Things are tough for us right now, and they have been for a few years now, BUT through all this mess God had brought us so much closer together.
Lee will be the first to tell you that we are stronger as a team.
I could write about him all day, but I won't :)
So today I am thanking God for bringing us together and blessing me with a man who loves me just as I am.

Hello All, How are you today?
I am loving the cool weather we are having here in Virginia. FINALLY!
I am NOT a summer girl at all I love the fall and winter.

You know since I started on the 1st counting my blessings everyday, I have felt so peaceful even with some of the really hard times in life we are having, I really do have that "peace that passes all understanding" the Bible talks about.
Today I am thankful for Beverly at How Sweet The Sound.
I am blessed by Beverly because she had the idea to host a weekly party called Pink Saturday.
About a year or so ago I stumbled onto her site and loved all the fun found there. In fact one of the reasons I started my blog was to participate. I have met so many wonderful women through her idea. I love all the creativity I find there. I look forward to it every week and when I come home on Saturday mornings I get my drink and settle in to head there and start checking out all the wonderful things that everyone decides to share.
I can honestly say it has been a blessing to me to have my little haven to visit every week. Thank You Beverly. You are a blessing to many.

It really is better to give than to receive.
Oh don't get me wrong, I love to be the recipient too :)
But there is such a good feeling that comes from making some one else feel special.
Jesus does that for me. He gave the greatest gift of all. He gave himself for you and for me.
I forget that sometimes.
I have been blessed to have been given some great gifts by some great bloggers this year, I have made new friends all over the USA.
I have had such a good time getting to know some very talented and creative women.

I know my little give away is small, I wish it could be so much more, but I hope the person who gets it is made to feel special.

Today I am blessed, because I have a job.
I work for the worlds largest retailer, you know the one everyone hates, but everyone goes to... the one Sam Walton started.
I am a Customer Service Supervisor, so my job is loads of fun! (insert sarcasm)
I am thankful to God that I am employed. I am glad it is in a place I have made friends and have met many people of great Faith. We talk about Jesus often and I love that I can do that.
Oh don't get me wrong if I could find a job out of retail, I would be gone in a second. But for now, this is where God put me, so this is where I am thankful to be.

I love knowing Jesus as my savior.

I love the knowledge that no matter what He is there for me.
My dad told me once that when times are so tough, if you just imagine sitting with Jesus and talking to Him it will get better.
I often picture in my minds eye sitting on the beach with Jesus on my right and my dad on my left and my husband behind me. He holds my hand, sometimes He holds me and just listens. Sometimes we just watch the waves. It comforts me and refreshes me beyond all words.
I am Blessed to live in a country where I can freely practice my Christian faith, without fear. I love my Jesus, My God, My Holy Spirit.
My 4 year old niece said it best "Jesus is my favorite."
If you need Him and think you can't find Him, just look into your heart, you will find Him waiting there for you.
Thank You Jesus for loving me.

For the month of November, I am inspired to count my blessings.

I am gonna try to post my blessings and thankfulness every day this month.
The song from White Christmas comes to mind..
"...I fall asleep counting my blessings..."
Today is a hard day for me, so I am gonna try to turn that around by counting the good and not dwelling on the hard.

I am Thankful today for getting to spend last night with my family.

We took the kids out and had such a good time.

They were so excited and had such a good time.

All the grown ups did too.

we had good food, a great walk around the neighborhood, happy smiles and sugar highs.

How can one not be blessed and thankful for that.

It is cold,grey and raining here in Virginia today and I love it. If you don't know I love grey days, they are calming to me and I am thankful for days like this.

OK as a result of it POURING DOWN RAIN at 7:30 this morning (when I was supposed to be walking out the door to go home) I wandered around the store and thought, I have been BLESSED beyond measure, and I am so thankful for all I have been given. I want to do something nice for my blog friends, so I have put together a small giveaway for you.

So I was thinking as I was walking around, waiting for the rain to take a break; what kind of giveaway would I like to receive?

With the weather so chilly and my hands so dry I thought; one that would pamper me, this is what I came up with.

The other day my mailbox was full of happy mail.
I got a letter from my dear friend Angela her blog is Down To the Darling Details we actually write real letters back and forth. I love her Faith and her kind heart.

I got a package from my Lucy though you may know her as Julie at Ric Rac and Polka Dots She sent me 2 of her knitted dish cloths.

Loads of happiness sent by friends I have met through my blog.

I have been trying to teach myself to knit. It is supposed to be so easy, yet I only make a mess of it! Grrr...one day I will get it. In the meantime I have Julies gift to get me through :)

I am rested and relaxed!
We had a nice supper last night with my sister Laura and her husband Patrick,
we got home around midnight and crashed. We had a good time with them.
This morning we have been as LAZY as we can be and we are both content! Oh I would have LOVED to have gone somewhere, anywhere, but there is a lot to be said for just relaxing and being calm. I do feel rejuvenated.

PHEW today has been a busy day!
I started my day with a girlfriend of mine at breakfast, we ate and talked for hours! It was so nice. We have only seen each other a couple of times in the last 20 years, but we just pick up where we leave off and it is never strained.

Then I went to lunch with my sister Beth.

I am so happy to have 6 days in a row to enjoy life!
NO WORK FOR 6 WHOLE DAYS YAY!

Today is day 1 of my vacation and today I am doing NOTHING.
I might cook supper and write a couple of letters, but that will be it! :)
No cleaning, no running all over, no laundry. Just me and my big ole booty in my chair watching trash on T.V.
Ahhhh contentment.
Oh I need to be doing a bunch but I am not gonna do it today.
I need this day.

Next week I am taking the last of my vacation days for this year and I would love some input on how you spend your vacation time.
We are not going on a trip anywhere :( so we are staying home and I have one project in mind already, one sister and her hubby are coming over for dinner one night and I am going to dinner and a movie with another sister, that leaves 3 full days .
Oh how I would love to go to the beach or to Vegas or ANYWHERE!
Alas that is not in the budget.

Survivors For Pink Saturday

This week I want to share with you two amazing women I have the honor and privilege of knowing and loving.
They are both survivors of Breast Cancer

First up is Joy, we have known each other for years and years!
We went to Jr. High and High School together.
We also have the same birthday :)
She is a teacher and comedian.
She is a survivor and I love her to bits.

Next is some one who I have known my entire life, she is my cousin Ruth Ann.
She is one of the nicest, most kind women in my life. She is a teacher and a wonderful seamstress and loves Jimmy Buffet as much as I do (probably more...lol) she is a new Nana too! My cousin Jeremy (her son ) and his wife Sarah just had twins!
Ruth Ann finished her radiation and chemo earlier this year.
She is there when ever I need her and I love her so much, more than she will ever know.
She is a survivor.

I pray that they will both be cancer free for the rest of their lives and that they live long and happy.
They are both Blessings to me.

See the little yellow fella he is at my house too and he is sitting on top of the clock keeping an eye on things, his little bluebird singing a happy tune.
His banner reminding me that it is fall (even at 80 degrees and humid!).

She shares her life with us in stories she tells with her little characters. Her life has been very interesting to say the least; and one day I hope we can sit together and talk.
I have a feeling we could gab for hours and hours.

**Ok first an update on Lee, his blood sugar and blood pressure are down from a week ago. His bp is almost normal thanks to his medication. His blood sugar is down from a week ago, but still very high, last Wednesday it was 518 this morning his fasting blood sugar was 245, still high but dropping. We were not able to get all his medications until Saturday, so he has been on them only 5 days now. Please keep him in your prayers. Me too! **

Now on to today's post.
I have posed in the past about the Kendrick brothers and their films, Flywheel, Facing the Giants and Fireproof; all made in Albany, Georgia and through their church, Sherwood Baptist Church.
Well their newest film hits the theater in 9 days! September 30th!
Courageous is a movie about fathers. These fathers all are Police Officers

and Courageous is their story.

I can tell you in all honesty well in my opinion anyway, God has a call on the lives of Alex and Stephen Kendrick. They are wonderful story tellers and the stories they weave teach great lessons in Faith and the love of God.
The movies they write, direct, edit, produce and act in are a blessing that can not be measured.
Every time we watch them (which is often) I feel renewed in my spirit.
If you have not seen any of them yet I hope you will.
I do not have the words to properly express the impact these wonderful films have made in our lives and marriage. What a blessing they are to us.
So set the date for Sept. 30th and make a movie date with your family.

Yesterday

Yesterday started out as a bit busy....
Lee had an appointment with the Ortho doc. who did his surgery 3 years ago, he still has constant pain and they are trying to figure out why.
He was feeling tired, but that is usual for him, then we had lunch, he treated me to Chic-fil-A (I can't remember the last time we went there!) Then we had another stop to make at a medical facility. I noticed while we were eating lunch his hand was shaking a bit, well by the time he was filling out paperwork at the medical facility he was having tremors so bad he could not hold a pen, he was pale, and nauseous, and could barely stand, they brought him out to me and told me to take him directly to the E.R. across the street, they thought he may be having a stroke.

What! OK be calm!
Long, Long, Long story short, thank God it was not a stroke!
His blood sugar however was....518! My STARS! If you don't know your normal numbers should be around the 100 range, his blood was like pumping corn syrup through his veins! No wonder he never feels good. He has been feeling bad for a while and thought it was just his blood pressure.
Now we know, but it was a rough, long day. Today he will be resting and setting up appointments with his doctor.
BIG LIFESTYLE CHANGE!
Please pray for him and us as financially I don't know how we are gonna cover all this, and the changes we will have to make.
Thank You God for Diabetes and not a stroke.
(It is hard to be thankful for Diabetes, but I am so blessed to have him Diabetic and not a victim of a stroke)

We checked out the entire series from our Library and we have been watching the 30 minutes episodes for 3 days (we start and stop)

We have enjoyed this clan for many years I think the first time we watched it on PBS was in 1995 or 1996, they are hysterical!
If you have not seen this show try to catch it on your PBS station or on BBC America (we no longer have cable/satellite so we get it on PBS on Saturday night here).Hyacinth and the messes she gets into will leave you in stitches.

This week flew by for me, I have not even posted on my blog all week!
Well at least I made it today.

I used papers and embellishments from my stash.

For my post this week I thought I'd share this with ya...
I am thinking about printing up some post cards, I have done a couple of post cards swaps at Kandeland I purchased cards each time Pin Up Art cards for the first one (I LOVE old Pin Up girls art) and this time I picked all Virginia themed ones. Through out the year I'll pick some up and send them out too.
So I thought I can make my own...maybe so this is what I came up with.

Pink Saturday

I am missing my dear friend Angie today.

We met almost 20 years ago at work.

At the time I was the receptionist at a Floral wholesaler and she was hired as a cashier, I "trained" her on the register and we became fast friends.

LONG story short, she moved to Missouri to take care of her grandad and later moved back to her original home in Illinois, we kept in touch, but had not seen each other in ages so in 2004 we decided to have a trip, just the 2 of us. We decided to meet in western Pennsylvania, and we would figure it out from there...

Stayed there for a bit and decided we both wanted to see Niagara, so we took off and went north.

It was so beautiful! We walked all over the US and Canadian sides, took a tour, had a lovely meals, watched glass be blown.... I could go on and on!

It is an amazing sight!

BEAUTIFUL day and night.

We did the Maid of the Mist trip around the falls, there are no words to describe the beauty of it.

We had a great time! It was lovely, she is a great friend and I enjoy her company. We need to get together again sometime. I do miss her so much.
I can't believe we have known each other near 20 years, her boys are all grown up and it seems just yesterday she was here and they were little :)
Love and miss you Angie. Kindred is what we are :)

I am itching to travel, I have not been on a trip anywhere in 5 years, I am going a bit stir crazy!

My Little's are growing up so fast!

Shelby will be in pre-school this year and my Squirt is going into 2nd grade!

They are MY HEART! I love them so much and I am so proud of them!

I am ready for a change, I can't put my finger on what that should be though.

I really want a job OUT OF RETAIL! I have been working in retail for about 22 years now, and I am tired of it. I am tired of being fussed at by customers!

Believe it or not the customer is NOT always right. Shocking I know.

I so badly want to ask rotten people where they work, then I want to go there and yell at them and tell them how to do their job and then tell them how they are doing it wrong!

Oh I NEVER EVER would do that, BUT I so want to some days.

Herein lies the rub.

I have no clue what else I want to do.

I think I would like to work in Human Resources some how, but I do not have the education for it, nor the funds to become educated.

So for now I guess I am stuck....

OK I have rambled on enough for today, it's so pretty outside this morning, I think I am gonna make an

iced coffee (thank you Pioneer Woman for that recipe)

and go sit on my porch in my rocking chair and read.

Hurricane Irene...Survived another one!

Well we survived another one!
Hurricane Irene came and went and this was the view from my front porch after she left this morning.

Some sort of blight attacked our evergreens over the summer, we have to remove the poor dead things now...

Limbs falling out of our huge oak tree, but she is still standing :)

My neighbors pretty flower beds are toast and her lawn ornaments were roughed up but no damage.

One of my neighbors fruit trees didn't survive, that was the worst damage visible on my street.

All in all in my neighborhood not too bad, a few small trees down and lots of limbs and branches.
We were without power for about 24 hours and had some minor water damage in our laundry room. Thank God. Irene slowed a bit and we are about 60 miles inland of Virginia Beach. We were blessed, some of those in the Outer Banks, NC and Sandbridge, Va were not so lucky and had a lot of damage.
I can't count how many hurricanes I have been through in my lifetime and every time we are covered by God's blessings, He takes care of us during every storm. Yesterday was just another example.

15 years...

15 years ago yesterday I married this man. This is one of my favorite photos of him from about 10 years ago.

I love him so much.

Oh don't get me wrong he drives me nuts! But he is mine and he loves me just as I am.

He is a great big man with a great big heart and he loves big too.

He makes me laugh everyday, sometimes even through tears.

But almost everyday for 15 years we have laughed, together.

EARTHQUAKE!!

WOW that was freaky!
There was a 5.9 earthquake centered in Northern Virginia around Richmond that was felt up to New England and down to North Carolina! To my knowledge and I have lived here all my 38 years, that was a first.
I had just gone to bed (I work nights and sleep days) I was reading and the bed started shaking, I thought what is that when it didn't stop quickly I jumped up and met Lee in the bathroom doorway...lol. We are just fine, the worst that happened (THANK GOD) is the cell service was down. Nothing broke or even fell in my house, again THANK GOD.
Lee and I were talking after and with a hurricane brewing, famine in Africa, wars and rumors of wars all over the middle east, earthquakes shaking, and droughts drying the land, I told him it's like Jesus saying..."Here's Your Sign!"
I hope everyone in blog land is ok and no one was hurt.

My Little Brother

My brother is not so little anymore...lol he just turned 31.
His birthday was Monday but we are going to celebrate it on Saturday.
I love him so much!
He is a great daddy and husband, he is always there if you need him, he is handsome and strong and works hard every day. He is a blessing to me.

He really is the "Strong silent type" :).
I am proud of him and the man he has become.
Happy Birthday Jared. You are my favorite brother...teehee.
I know I mess things up some times, I just hope he always knows just how much I love him.

Since Saturday I have had Blessings on my mind, I can't seem to get the song from the movie White Christmas out of my head ....I fall asleep counting my blessings.... I was blessed greatly seeing all the other blessed blogger posts this weekend, I hope together we have made a difference for the next Miracle Makeover recipient.
In that spirit I have concluded that if one focuses on Blessings the old sins can't come creeping back in! So today I am going to tell y'all about a few more blessings in my life, they are many; so today will be just 3. God above is mighty and has blessed our lives with abundance so I will testify just a bit.
Thank You Father for my Blessings.....

1.Having a roof over our heads
(You see we have lost our home to foreclosure, but we are still in it for now Where we will go and how it will be paid for is in God's hands and that is a bridge we will cross when we get there. God has a plan for us We KNOW!)

2.Healing of my brain.
(I was an Epileptic, I was healed of it and have not had a Seizure in many, many years)

3.Having a saved husband.
(Lee accepted Jesus as his savior several years ago and because God sent his Son, I will have eternity with the man I love.)

Wow where do I start and how do I share just one blessing in my life?

I have been blessed all my life.

I was born into a family of LOVE, I was blessed with wonderful parents and grandparents

1973 Dad, Mom, Me,Papa, and Meme (my moms parents)

Then I was blessed with 3 sisters and a brother, my life would be empty without all of them.
I was blessed with a great childhood filled with memories.
I am blessed to be married to Lee for almost 15 years.
I am blessed to be a child of God, and have a family full of saved believers that I will get to spend eternity with.
This is just the very tip top of the longest list you could imagine.
How do I narrow my blessings down, how do I pick just one....
You are all a Blessing to me.

Did you know that I LOVE LUCY!
I love Lucille Ball.

A card I saved and have on one of my paper holders in my craft area.

I shared a small bit of my Lucy collection a while back, and I thought I'd share a bit more today, in honor of her Birthday today she would have been 100 years old. I love that red head, she always makes me smile, Lee and I were talking about her and how people really only remember her from the T.V. show, she had a long and varied film career as well. The first movie I remember seeing her in was Mame, I loved that movie. Puzzling, I do not own it...hmmm I will have to change that. I think she would like the fact that people are still remembering her.

My little lunch box sits on the end table in my living room and holds candy :)

My desk set was a Christmas gift from Lee. This blotter sits on my writing desk.

The pencil cup and mouse pad are on my craft desk, the mouse pad I just use mostly as a coaster and my lamp is on it too.

Even a cute place to toss the trash.
I really am surrounded by Lucy and ya know what I like it that way!

My dear sweet friend Casey sent me some Women Of Faith books last year, we are trying to do a Bible study long distance, she lives in California.

She is one of the most kind hearted people I have ever known.

She has a BIG love for our Lord and she even started a

Facebook group for Christian women. I love the Faith she has.
She is a great friend. Even though we have never met, we are cyber friends, but we have a true friendship I will always cherish.
Well to date we have not been able to work out the timing on the Bible Study; and as some of you know I have been struggling with my faith lately so I picked up one of the study books she sent the other day,
"Being Yourself" How do I take off this mask is the title of it.
You are God's Delight is the title of the first chapter. There is one question in the first study I am stuck on, I honestly don't have the answers to it, so I will ask y'all these questions, WARNING they really make you look inside of you....
Reflecting on your own life, in what ways does God show His goodness through you?
In what ways do you "Declare the Glory of God" in your decisions, your relationships, and in your life?

I have to share the story behind these photos...The 4th of July pool party was all planned by my sister and her husband. "Bring a side dish and we have the pool and everything else" Pool? What pool? To our knowledge they didn't have a pool, my bil Steve had purchased a 4 ft above ground pool for this party, try as he might he could not get it to stay up and full! LMBO
It kept collapsing on him! When we all get there it about wading pool height, THAT DIDN'T STOP OUR FAMILY! HA we got wet anyway! Take That Mr.Pool! The pool was being filled with icy cold well water and it felt so good, it was enough to dunk our heads under and swim around a bit, Colby was cracking me up with his snorkel in about 1 foot of water, but he kept it on the entire time. It may not have been full and it may not have been deep but it was cold and we had fun anyway!

But I feel I have won in more ways than one, as some of you know I have been struggling a great deal with a lot of issues and I have felt...distant...from my God ...and others as well, I have barely been able to pray.

I think God led Marcia and I together through this event and she has blessed me greatly with her wonderful spirit and words. I think I can see a glimmer of light at the end of that tunnel.....

Pink Saturday

Hey y'all happy Pink Saturday.
It is HOT HOT HOT! Yesterday it got to 114 with 90% humidity, misery is what it was! Is it any wonder I love winter? You can always bundle up and get warmer, but when you are sweating in your birthday suit, you ain't getting no cooler! (that was too country...ha!)
I thought today I would post another of my mini depression glass sets.
This is Mosser Glass set #4, it is a mini cake plate and 4 mini desert plates.
I put just a regular Chips Ahoy cookie on them to give you a better idea of their size. So dainty and sweet!

Christmas In July!

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!
I was blog hopping around the web and found Marcia's Blog One Heart At Home some time ago, (probably through Pink Saturday). Well she is hosting a Christmas in July party so I thought I would join in. Click on the White Christmas Button on my side bar to see all the fun.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about Christmas! My family has great traditions and loads of fun.
My husband's family on the other hand...not so much,so when his brother and niece moved in with us for a while in 2008/2009 it was the first time that he was with any member of his family at Christmas in over 20 years!
LONG story short we had a great time playing, decorating, and loving Christmas with April (our niece), here are a few photos from that time. One thing I made sure we did was decorate the tree while "A Christmas Story" played in the back ground, we had home made cookies and hot chocolate. I hope she will always remember the Christmas we spent together, I love her and miss her and her daddy so much.

How About You? I have never hosted one on my blog, but have done them on message boards in the past. I thought why not! I have some ideas brewing for another swap too. This one I am re-purposing, I have done a few like this before.

Struggling

Hey there friends, how are you today?
It is a scorcher in Virginia today. Yesterday in Franklin (where I live) we hit 111 and today it's supposed to get around 115 with something like 87% humidity.
We are staying in, I stayed in yesterday too and just vegged out, I didn't do anything but make BLT's for lunch and salads for supper. How are things in your neck of the woods?
I may try to get some crafty time in today, BUT we don't air condition that room right now, so it will have to wait til the sun goes down.
I am feeling out of sorts and still struggling with some bitter ol' demons, so please continue to pray for me, I appreciate it more than words can express.
Grrrrrr....stupid blogger won't let my photo load....AGAIN!.....grrrr
