Fear????

I am so tired of being afraid. God's word tells us 365 times (hmmm 1 for everyday of the year?) Fear Not. So why do I still struggle with it. WHY can't I just give all my worries and fears to God and let HIM sort it. Why do I feel the compulsive need to fix it myself. Over and Over I face this struggle. A few of you may know the situation my husband and I have been in for almost 3 years now for those that don't it is an all to typical story of  injury, job losses, repossessions, bankruptcy and now foreclosure.  During this time of struggle and trial God had provided our every need. We give God the glory for all He has done and we testify to it, So why in spite of that do I still worry and fret? I am so frustrated by it. I pray "All is yours Father, Your will be done, not mine " I feel peace and then a bit later the old fears creep back .I am so tired of this struggle, this fight, I want to be a good and faithful servant of The Lord, but I feel I fall so short of w

Pink Saturday

Image
This week for Pink Saturday I picked out a few pieces of my I love Lucy collection. I love Lucille Ball! The doll was my grandmother's, my sisters gave me the purse and the box of chocolates (which were so yummy) and the salt and pepper set I bought years ago. I have other items as well, these are just a few. I don't collect as much as I used to, at some point for me it just becomes enough, well for now it's enough since I don't have anymore room! Happy Pink Saturday! I really need to take the time to learn how to better use my camera. I tried 3 different settings to see how they turn out, the experiments continue....

Getting to know the family

Image
I have been thinking a lot about my childhood. I had a great childhood. I miss those days.  Carefree and all the time in the world lay ahead of you....ahhhh. We are blessed to have great, creative, God  loving parents who have always encouraged us. We (now remember there are 5 of us) all had something we wanted to try and my parents always said go for it and if it didn't work out then we were allowed to quit (though that didn't happen often) between us we took dance, did theater, played baseball or softball, band, chorus more clubs and after school activities than we can count, piano lessons,etc....the list goes on. BUT here is the thing *we did it together as a family, my dad coached all of my sisters and my brother (not me, but that's a different post : 0 ) in baseball and softball, my mom was at pretty much every dance lesson in the waiting room, we have all been in plays; including all 7 of us in the musical Shenandoah, and multiples of us in many others; even in some

I LOVE cupcakes! Cup cakes are the perfect food I think. They always leave you happy. Aren't these adorable and oh my don't they look yummy! My friend Cee made these for her grand-nephews birthday, they are Black Forrest Cupcakes. (The only reason they are pink is because she ran out of red food coloring...teehee) She is so talented and such a good friend and she is such a good cook too. I wish I lived closer to her. She inspired me to make chocolate cherry brownies mmmm they were so good. Love you Lady Cee! xoxo

Letters

Image
Do you ever write letters anymore? I do, though not nearly often enough. I don't get back as many as I send, but that's ok. I love writing to people I love and miss. I think it's a lost art form. I know a lot of people bemoan the use of email and texting. They have their place too. If it wasn't for facebook I would not have reconnected with people I miss, I am grateful for it. Email is a lot faster and has it's place too, my friend in California I can email and get in answer back in minutes not days.  I know I am not the best letter writer, I have a tendency to switch subjects a lot and I know I am not very eloquent, but I do it anyway and you know what I always feel better after I do, there is something refreshing about putting a few thoughts down on paper and sending it off. I also from time to time write letters to God, I will write my prayer instead of speaking it, as a result I often have more peace about what I am praying on. I wrote 3 letters just tonight

Sherwood Pictures

I love these movies! Have you seen any of them? First let me say I am in no way being paid or asked to promote them, I just really love them and they made such a difference in my life I had to share with y'all. There is a church in Albany, Georgia called Sherwood Baptist Church a few years ago (2003 I think?)they made a movie called Flywheel as a local outreach for their community, well it found it's way from little Albany, Georgia to video stores mostly in the south east, then everywhere; it is a wonderful film the story for Flywheel is to rely on God, be obedient to Him and trust in Him. I love it and I could watch it everyday (sometimes we do). Then a couple of years, and a bigger budget later the made Facing the Giants (my favorite of them all ) This movie speaks to my soul! The story line is about a Football coach who has lost confidence in himself and feels adrift, with no clear direction, also there is a sub story about the infertility he and his wife are going thr

Pink Saturday

I have had this little lamp pretty much my entire life. Growing up I always shared a room with one of my 3 sisters this lamp was always in our bedroom. Somehow (teehee) when I got married and moved out this lamp came with me. Originally the shade was taller and more cylindrical like a top hat and had white pompom fringe around the base, I replaced it with this one a while back. I have always loved this lamp it's been witness to love notes, friendships, tears, laughter, fights, fears, every Nancy Drew book read and every dream I ever had. I have no idea where my mom got it, but I am oh so glad she did. It's home for the last 5 years has been in my lavender painted spare bedroom.

My first Pink Saturday

Image
For my first Pink Saturday I chose my little Chickie Baby my niece Shelby. Pink is her "best" color don'tcha know. She loves and adores all things Pink and I love and adore her. Sorry the picture is not good, I was in a hurry when I took it. This is a layout I did for a challenge at From Here To Scrapternity. The challenge was to use 10 flowers on a layout, I had to use pink for Shelby. I have "stalked" many blogs over the last year or so that have participated in Pink Saturday, I must admit at first I didn't understand what it was, but I caught on quick...teehee... I love some of the things that y'all come up with. Thanks for letting me in on the fun.

Such Talent

Image
I have such a talented  family. I am the oldest of 5 and my sisters and brother (and their husbands, fiance and wife) are great, they are my best friends. I wanted to show you a really cute cupcake flower boquet my sister Joanne made. She made them for our sister-in-law Amanda's baby shower (hence the half eaten platters of food...:) They were even more adorable in person.

I'm so in Love

A New Year

This is a new blog for a new year, I have no idea if anyone will ever read these posts or even care to, but I am gonna do it anyway. For some reason it is important to me to do this, I learned a long time ago to not ignore that still small voice that tells me things from time to time. I believe it is the Holy Spirit guiding me, promptimg me; to listen. I am trying to listen. I have "stalked" many, many blogs and love the community of talented women on the web (sigh...)  I am so jealous, but inspired and until recently I have not felt the need to start my own . Any tips or suggestions?  I am a Christian, wife, daughter, sister and aunt. I hope to grow in my relationship with God and I am very excited to discuss my faith with you.I have definately been blessed to find  many blogs out there such as  Homespun Heart,  with all that i've been given, bless our nest, Blessed Femininity, Aspiring Homemaker etc... (I could go on and once I figure out how to link my favorites I will!
